Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

GHQ closed due to water main break.

For those who may not know, the GHQ has been closed since 12/20 because of a water main break on the 12th floor which swamped the floors below, especially the 11th floor which is the only remaining lab floor in the North tower.

This is significant because at the end of August the ELT mandated that all lab floors will be vacated and all labs consolidated onto the 11th floor to save rent $$ and this must be completed before 12/31. Great stress and pressure was placed on all groups to stuff themselves and their equipment onto the 11th floor by the end of the year.

Then came the water break which is not only significant because everyone had moved their equipment to the most impacted floor, and almost everyone was gone due the to the holiday, but also because the ELT in their infinite wisdom to try and save money had also told the JLL folks (building maintenance) that they were no longer needed as well.

Seems like poetic justice that they rush and push to try and save money (like getting out of hardware business just to get right back in again) only to step right into another pile of sh*t instead.

NCR did not pay 5 million to take down the sign. It was $75,000. Trust me, I know....

Yes, Mullet Boy paid 5Mil for the owner of Cheetah to remove the rotating sign. This is the confirmed story told by the staff at Cheetah. The sign is in storage and as soon as NCR goes belly up or moves they'll put it back up.

Back when I worked there, I spent most of my time on the 15th floor. A lot of that gear was out of manufacture. You could not get it again once it breaks. There was also customer purchased gear like fuel pumps, which belonged to them. I had already left before this consolidation. Does anyone know if any equipment was damaged? They were actively sending a lot to India in the attempt to do all the testing there. The only limiting factor was some sensitive connections not allowed from overseas but that was a very small number.

Could this be a sign that the Tides are turning?

A couple things about this tread. You cannot wrote off something you don’t own. Neither Atleos nor Voyix own the building. They just have a lease.

Secondly yes NCR paid the Cheetah to take down their sign in 2019. But the owner of the Cheetah was happy to accept the payment because the spinning sign kept breaking down and he wanted to remove it anyways.

Slightly off topic, and I'm sure this is old news for anyone remotely aware of the happenings at GHQ folks, but humor us less traveled peons. It's not exactly something that gets ballyhooed on the webcasts. lol

The most interesting tidbit I've learned after some conversations after this most recent thread is that NCR GHQ is located across the street from a well known Atlanta strip club. After the GHQ property developers unsuccessfully tried to buy the property, NCR was instead able to persuade ($$$) the owners to remove the large revolving sign from atop of their fine gentleman's establishment.

Now this was no doubt merely a blip in the funds spent to establish the new HQ or any other untold amounts of waste, but this is the kind of stupidity the execs are wasting money on. On removing a sign from a strip club that was there before NCR even moved in.

Don't put all the eggs to a single basket they said. A miser pays twice they said.

It looks like someone is just not learning, in the attempt to save a penny they loose thousands.

GHQ is going to be closed soon. Everything is now overseas, water leak is a great way to write off the building.
