Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Getting laid off is a rude awakening

Despite everything, some people always think that they are special and that they are safer than others in this company, and then there is a rude awakening.

Yes, this is a rude awakening so that those who haven't, finally realize that we are just a number to them, and that you shouldn't risk waiting until the last day to find out that you'll have to look for a job while you're jobless.

No one is ever safe at any company. You have to prove your value every day at every place and can still get cut when you have mo--ns running the company like all the SAP bros that ran the company into the ground but landed safely with their golden parachutes.

Many white collar jobs are well paid or at least above the average salary and you don't really need any particular skillset if you work in sales hence you're replaceable. It's just d-mb thinking your employer cares about you.

Waiting to be laid off is a choice that can feel humiliating to long-time employees. But, everyone could have left before, of their own accord, with some remaining dignity.

That's the real rude awakening. It didn't have to be this humiliating experience.

Nobody is indispensable. Steve Jobs died, and Apple continued. Bill Gates quit, and Microsoft continued. You and I, I'm pretty sure the company will manage to survive. :)

What makes this different than what happens at every other company? If you think you’re gonna be “safe” at a different company, you are sorely mistaken.

This makes Citrix the same as any other company in this country.
