Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

Is this even legal?

I am convinced this company does not care about anyones work life balance. The person we report to listens to us but then does the opposite so it’s pretty much all talk and no action. Our leadership cares about calls and doesn’t care how many hours it takes or if you have to work almost every weekend. One serious issue I have is that I worked a network call yesterday that went for 12 hours. Me and the person at the other site did not receive a meal break so doesn’t that violate state labor law. I thought if you work 8 hours you get at least an hour break in certain states and 30
Minutes mininun in others. Correct me if I’m wrong as I am going to bring this up with Management.

@5brl+1j9fzuvy asks a very good question.

Unfortunately no one in NCR management really cares. But I will say if your use to going that extra mile to get the job done then they become someone who gonna expect it from you. You have to set your tone that you will be taking a scheduled break from now on. And stick with it.

I say again this will never change unless you all band together and form that dreading union no one seems to want. You field people deserve better than what ncr provides.

If you are on a call more than 4 hours, simply tell everyone on the call that you are taking a break and will return in 15 minutes. Everyone on the call is doing this already whether you are aware of it or not. Do not clock out. Don't abuse yourself because you have a stupid manager. Realistically, the breaks should be at the top of every other hour.

Yes, of course you can and should have taken a break. If any of your bosses have a problem with that you tell them that you do not work 12 hours straight without a break and if they have a problem with that they are free to take it up with HR. Due to legal reasons NCR bosses are not permitted to fire you without first obtaining HR’s approval.

We at NCR are an 'at will' employer. Please GTFO if you have problems instead of being a little b.i.t.c.h and moaning on this forum.
