Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

You will all get through it

Unfortunately many people at some point in their careers will experience being laid off. I'm going through it at the moment and if it does happen to you, it will be ok and you will be ok - there are plenty more fish in the sea.
There will be a conversation or announcement - short and factual because no-one around the table relishes it and then that's the worst of it out of the way.
You'll get through it just fine. Once you know, you may want to lay low for a couple of days to be kind to yourself (and avoid doing or saying anything rash that you might regret) then hold your head up, leverage your network and brush up your resume and get some interview practice. I do believe that as one door closes, another will open and you'll get an opportunity to do incredible work somewhere else with new people.
Try not to get too spun up worrying as you are a lot stronger than you probably think.
Be well.

@nfn+1jbQWc3j put it perfectly.

agree but be prepared for a potential prolonged period of underemployment or non-employment.

the economy won't trend up for another 3-5 years. things wil get better but now it's turbulent.

I'm looking ahead, and I'm hopeful for a better future. That said, I do feel foolish for staying at Citrix as long as I have, 10+ years now. What was I thinking? Each change in leadership seemed like a possible recovery from what I experienced in the early years.

But in hindsight, I've wasted so much time that now I realize it was a mistake to hope for a recovery. Call it blind faith.

Great post. I’ve been working in the tech sector for 3 decades and have been through a few layoffs - they are unfortunately a possibility in any industry or job role these days. I know that doesn’t make it easier, but just know that it does suck, it feels like cr-p, and it’s incredibly disheartening to many, but just know that you WILL come out better on the other side. Take whatever time you need to process and take care of yourself. Reach out to others for support and networking. Rest assured that there are FAR better places to work and opportunities that you may not have even considered previously. Put “Citrix” in your rear view and look ahead to the next chapter!
