I think we can all agree that this process is a huge mess. I'm among those who're trying to get out of it but I'm failing in finding a good alternative. Out of the three offers I receive the best one was nearly a quarter less than I make here. I can't afford such a sharp drop in pay. In the end, all I've achieved is to increase my anxiety levels.

I agree, "Sit back and wait to be laid off" is the kind of uninspired mindset that ensured Citrix would fail. It's also why Krause will be sure he's doing the right thing, by firing more employees.
"As bad as everything seems right now, we... as employees, are in a great spot to be in. Sit back and wait to be laid off." -- That's the most pathetic comment ever posted on this site
To the one that said "Citrix has overpaid many of its employees" should probably change that to "some of its employees". Citrix, on average, has underpaid quite a bit in the past few years... at least for technical positions. I am entertaining three separate offers right now (between $100K to $150K more than I'm making now) and am in the best possible position I could be in. I'm just waiting to see if I get laid off. Luckily, the company I'm likely moving to is cool with me waiting a month to start, so I have plenty of time to wait for a severance package.
As bad as everything seems right now, we... as employees, are in a great spot to be in. Sit back and wait to be laid off. Enjoy your 1-2 hour days and get some projects at home done. Study, get a new cert, learn a new skill that you didn't have time to learn before shft hit the fan. You can then use these skills to make you even more marketable for other companies. Sure, things may be a little slower for hiring at this time of year, but the Great Resignation is far from over. Try and see things from the 10,000ft level... there are big changes happening in the industry right now, and for once in many of our lives, we have the TIME to fill in those gaps and shortfalls in our resumes and learn some of the stuff we SHOULD have been learning during the last 2, 5, 10, whatever years at Citrix.
There are tech layoffs everywhere. A lot of people will be looking for jobs. If I had a job offer on the table right now, I'd probably take it, even if the salary isn't what I want. December/January is not a good time to be job hunting.
The place is so sh-t that I would happily take less salary elsewhere in exchange for some basic professional decency and respect.
Perhaps the current job offers are due to timing, as others have said here. Also, many of the hiring managers in the software sector know that Citrix employees that waited to leave are now panicking. So, maybe they're taking advantage of the situation.
FYI, I left Citrix just over a year ago and received a 23% increase in base pay, and a smaller increase in RSUs. The New Year may bring back these bigger increases. Wait and see.
Citrix has overpaid for many of its employees and that’s one of the reasons why it is in this situation. Research your salary requirements to verify if they are realistic and understand that you might have to adjust your lifestyle moving forward.
Also, don't forget to look at the whole package. I went a bit down on salary, but it was a blessing since my mental state and even health are now significantly better. Also, my skillset is now more versatile after just six months in a new company (different stack) and if I would have to look for a new job again, I'm certain it would be even easier than before. If you consider the price of your health, you might be even paid double with that quarter less in base comp.
I hate that there are so many who are still there and feeling like this, and that are finding challenges with offers, etc. Unfortunately, this is the slower time of year for hiring to begin with, and the economic conditions are likewise creating headwinds which see a lot of companies in hiring “pauses” or freezes right now. Do not give up. There are many ex-Citrites out here who are more than willing to extend their networks and/or assistance - don’t hesitate to reach out! There are still great opportunities out there, and remember that a lot of positions get filled before they ever post the req on LinkedIn, Indeed, etc. - purely by networking. Keep at it. Take time to take care of your mental health. There are better days and better opportunities ahead!
