I have worked with 6 different Findlay engineering transplants from two different departments. All but 1 has left MPC after only a few months to a year of working in California. A couple of them had to pay back some of the relocation money, the others waited a year before leaving. I got to know a couple of them and found out they were being paid significantly under market value. At first I thought it was because they were coming from Findlay but they told me they got good raises in ADDITION to a 15% cost of living increase. There are a lot of better opportunities out west according to them, that rings true with so many of them leaving.
The only one that has stuck around is very young and experienced so it seems like it will just be a matter of time before that person leaves as well. Findlay better be careful who they transfer over to the west because it has just become a talent farm for other companies. The people from Andeavor were already being paid well so I don't see them leaving anywhere near as much as the MPC transplants.
