Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

The railroad is good paying job.

The reality is that a lot of us complain but, not very many quit. If you don't like the new contract get a job somewhere else so i can gain more seniority.

$22 hour if you factor in the 16 hour's in the hotel you don't get paid for.

The money is bad. I live out in the sticks in close proximity to low-income housing project and very high society trailer parks. The newest toy I own is 11 years old with some rust. So yeah the money is flowing. It's just not flowing in my direction apparently.

Everyone complains about the money but I don’t know many that don’t live in nice suburbs. And I see many toys on the parking lot. I hear about kids playing sports witch ain’t cheap. And I hear about many hobbies. So I would say the money is definitely flowing.

Not many people quit, but the UP has resorted to hiring felons. Why hire felons for the people you assumed didn't quit?

Underpaid
Overworked
Disrespected

VOTE NO!!!
Pay everyone more money or we strike.

There should be some penalties for delaying a contract for year's.
$1K yearly bonus is an insult especially when you offer $25K bonuses to new hires.
Cap on medical.
Cap on union dues.
Going to need at least a 30% bump in pay.
You cut the workforce by at least 30% and we've picked up the slack for 24% COMPOUNDED?
NO DEAL!!!

That would improve my "quality of life".

I’m leaving with 24 years of seniority smart guy. What good is money if you don’t have time to spend it???? Lots of people have given their life to this industry only to see their own personal health and happiness destroyed. Years ago when we all actually felt that the railroad was our home and the people acted like brothers and sisters to one another it was tolerable. Our work family has turned against itself so it’s time to get back to spending my time and energy to be with my actual family that spent two decades coming in second place. Enjoy your seniority
