Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

BYOD

So, my phone is getting messages that it needs to update by Feb. or won't be able to use the work apps anymore. Why? They seem to be working fine right now. I don't want to buy a new phone but I also don't want the hassle of trying to find a handheld to do my job.

If you have facebook, twitter or any other social media.... Walmart has you info. If you do online banking, shopping, Door dash, lyft, uber or other apps Walmart has your information. if you complain about Walmart or talk about Walmart products on Reddit or any other Private message board Walmart can track down where you live and which Walmart you potentially work at. Using the work phone for personal use doesn't give them anything else you already haven't given them. You give them copies of almost all your ID when you apply FFS

Anyone who uses their personal phone at work at Walmart, you deserve what you get. If you’re d-mb enough to do that, then you deserve what you get.

Why don't you use the phone Walmart gives you? Everyone in our store has a phone issued by Walmart for work use. We have had the phones for over a year and everyone uses those phones. Some people still use the handhelds but those are usually the shift leads. You can do just about everything you do on a handheld on the company issued phone so why not use it?

Because that is to easy and not worthy of a thread. Then to you have no conspiracy that Walmart turns you camera on at home and watches you.

Ok, here’s the scoop.

Don’t use your personal phone for work, period. That’s so, so bad. First of all, the Walmart app tracks, gathers and sends your personal data. And when you’re on a Walmart network, such as store WiFi, they can get your call history, message history, email, etc etc. The ISD guys in Bentonville can tell you all about it, but the bottom line is that it’s never a good idea for your employer to have that info.

Next, they will give you a Walmart work phone, just request it.

Using the TC70 / Handheld is better than using your own phone for Walmart work purposes.

You might not think keeping your personal device private it a big deal, but it’s vitally important to keep Walmart out of your phone. In fact, I’d almost go as far to say if you have the walmart app on your phone, I’d delete it immediately and potentially consider taking your phone in and get it wiped (save your pics, documents and contacts).

No, You don’t have to run updates on your phone. You don’t need to buy a new phone. But get that app and anything else Walmart wants you to have off your phone immediately.

Trust me on this, it’s a major privacy sc--w up to put this stuff on your phone.

It is wrong for the company to make you use your personal phone for company business. If you took company property home for personal use they would terminate you for theft.

Get a company phone and just use that at the store. To the associate and customer any Walmart app that you download is more than just a convince. Its a data accumulator GPS, spending habits, whatever you use it for. Then Walmart can use or sell that info. Remember children's miracle network collectors in the store. Walmart took a tax deduction on that money. 19
