Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Waiting for the other shoe to drop

Earning were ok but forecast not so good
Weakening consumer demand for PCs
FED will continue to increase interest rates to reduce demand .New job numbers too hot . If layoffs are going to happen it will be January as there is effectively only 2 weeks left in this year , people taking extra vacation .New financial year begins in Feb .

Some States do not allow carried forward Vacation and do not require vacation to be paid out in a layoff - example Texas
No Texas or federal law requires employers to make payouts of accrued but unused paid leave

At some point, IT will load your system with stealthware that will track whether you've saved any data. If you're sacked, they will scan your system and interrogate you on any data dumps

Dell does most of its layoffs in Januaries, and it trims every year even in good years. The names have already been selected, there’s nothing you can do about it. Those most likely to be laid off are older long term level 9 and 10s because they’re the most expensive, low performers, and those not attached to a politically savvy executive. There’s no point living in fear of being laid off - in every single case of layoff I’ve observed except 1, one year after the layoff the person is better off. As a pure numbers game, you probably won’t be laid off, but if you are, it’ll be ok. It’s just a job.

Take your vacation. Use your PTO. You can lose it overnight.
