Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Anyone else's store freezing?

I'm just curious if any other stores are colder than usual this time of year.

Most of the convos have been about the final dagger being the next lack of earnings report in January that may bring the stock pumping to an end if this decline keeps up.

You may be out in the cold then as they may be forced into straight liquidation because of the notes hijinks. I hope you do get your severance, but know all these future notes may get in the way of you getting anything,

Our office heat is turned off. Has been for 3 weeks. Our high Temps right now are in the teens. Office and back of the store are freezing. I'm sure this is done to save money. Probably thinking nobody needs to be in the offices anyways. Get out on the floor and work.
But when I have to tell new hires to wear layers cause Our heats off...not a good look.

BBB doesn't have the power to simply turn off the gas. Only the utility company can and they would only do that for signifcant non-payment. If the gas being turned off is actually what is taking place the problem is a lot bigger than simply being cold in the store.

Our store was so hot in the Summer and so cold in the Winter! Customers complained all the time! Corporate said that it’s set and it stays where it stays! Do you really think that they care? He-l to the NO people!

Does it make sense for them to turn the gas off in stores where it’s freezing? Pipes freeze and then flood the store and they’re responsible for damages. I know there’s insurance but insurance premiums go up with multiple claims. I worked in a store where this happened. Gas wasn’t shut off, one of the heaters in an area near pipes quit working. If it’s literally cold enough to freeze pipes it’s not safe to be working in that store so calls should be made to correct the situation.

Yeah, after several complaints, customers and employees, we were told the gas was shut off. Looks like they're turning it off in hopes nobody complains. They only turn it back on after theres been several complaints, similar to the a/c problems during the summer.

Note that in olden times, we had people WORKING at night on set ups and stock. So it never got that cold even in a cold area. Fortunately, they turned that damn muzak off overnight, however.

So you are still calling corporate about the local heat/AC? That was always a really Mickey Mouse deal back in the day as well. We want you to sell, but we don't want to pay to warm the rats in the second loft.
