Thread regarding Lenovo layoffs

What an awful place to work!

It is meaningless to be a dedicated employee here, considering that it is precisely those who are the most dedicated - the least valued.
When I leave Lenovo, the main reason will be the terrible management. Isn't that the biggest reason why many have already left this place?
It is unbearable to watch how they take all your credit for themselves, but always try to attribute their mistakes to you.

@Qerq+1jYRbs6y : Can confirm what you experienced is systemic within lenovo, not just sales. I was always on the engineering side and it's just like you explain here.

In my 25 years in the Tech Industry, always in a Field sales role and several stints as a Sales Leader, I’ve never experienced a more toxic environment and blatant favoritism than at Lenovo.

Somehow I wasn’t hit in the recent layoffs, but have no doubt my number will be called soon…. Clearly, management ( let’s not use the term leadership because leaders don’t behave this way) uses layoffs at Lenovo as a way to clean house vs rid themselves of poor performing individuals or groups.

I know of several who were exceeding their quotas and were laid off, yet low performers remain, simply because of their IBM connection or brown nosing the boss. And those of us left behind are well aware if we question or try to understand the rationale, we will be next. Toxic, bullying, and outright poor decisions continue to rule the entire Sales organization and we keep adding highly paid execs in TruScale org that has yet to yield any results ( and it’s on its 4th rebranding since launch 5 years ago!)
HR is a bunch of talking heads and enablers, and don’t even think about asking for clarification from Finance about a commission payment- that’s the kids of death..
To those of us that remain: keep your head down and your mouths shut- our day is coming.

The best thing to ever happen was being laid off by Lenovo. The job market was good when I was let go, not great. I had several interviews in the 30-day window, never went into the office, and never had to do a work transfer (their mistake). Signed my papers, went to another interview that day, a few weeks later had several offers to consider. It was a nice 3-month vacation and search. I took the job that best benefitted myself, my family, and path to retirement. I get the same 401k benefits, but also get a guaranteed pension. It is a job I will have for 15 years, retire, have nearly $3k per month in pension, along with wife's pension. I can't tell you how refreshing that is.

Don't be a slave to a company that hates you. And yes, Lenovo hates you unless you have a signed buyout contract for you to leave. If you are not an Exec, you are nothing but an expense to them.

Sh!t company
Sh!t management
Worthless HR dept.
Sh!t products
Zero leadership

Corporate simps have no skills other than bu-t-kissing, yes-manning, and taking it up the rear-end like.

They cast blame on the workers because they're all on power-tripping megalomaniacs with no real skill. If they lose the ability to lie, they'd be screwed.

Great people

Other than the greedy sh!tbags in management, sure.

Great products

Lol! Not anymore. Most of it is substandard Chinese cr@p.

Great leadership

Leaders? that's hilarious. Let's see some of these wonderful "leaders" take the blame and get laid off for the company's poor performance.

Complainers are usually down and out in life.

Corporate simps are pathetic toadies suffering from corporate stockholm syndrome.

They cast blame which really means b-lame

This is 2022, not 1952, boomer. Eat sh!t.

I think what was meant is that might be unique the Geography. Meaning those behaviors are not as prevalent outside USA.

That behavior is very prevalent in most of Asia, South America, and Africa... I think it was the same troll that hates on Americans desperately trying to prop up his beloved CCP-backed sweatshop.

Reasons why I left:

  • Terrible management: lying, inept, always in CYA mode. Support for employees only if it helps their career.
  • No mentoring to build a career. You were always left to your own devices to try and figure it out.
  • Back-stabbing co-workers. Few and far between, but they made working there even more unbearable.
  • More and more work piled on every year with a meager 2%-3% raise - if you're lucky
  • Regularly told how much you "cost" and told you were an "expense". Doesn't exactly make you feel appreciated much less welcome here.
  • 90% of the time, promotions went to favorites, not to the best qualified
  • External hires favored over internal employees with higher pay and less overall work.
  • Bullying regularly allowed, indeed, encouraged by some management
  • No accountability for mistakes; sh!t rolls down hill mentality
  • The worst parts of IBM allowed to fester and continue and spread into Lenovo

I think that about covers it - at least from my experience.
