Thread regarding Duke Energy. layoffs

Few IT folks impacted today (Full-Time)

It looks like a few full-time folks were notified today. I am not sure if this is only in IT or may including business.

I’m sure contractors are cheaper than full time employees to keep on.

My manager recently hired 5-6 contractors and laid me off. Bet the recruiter was right as contractors are not being laid off, but employees hired directly by Duke Energy have been laid off.

I was just contacted by a recruiter who offered a 3 year IT contract and said that Duke Energy has not laid anyone off during the pandemic. Was she just lying?

Not in IT and I was notified yesterday. Completely blindsided cause my manager said his team was safe and to not worry.
