Thread regarding Optum layoffs

See something, Say something

If you work in the corporate office or have happened to hear anything regarding the ECS reorganization and layoffs that will stem from it (beyond what has already taken place) please be kind enough to share and not allow your fellow humans to be blindsided. It is the holidays and people are fearful of being let go right before Christmas like the did in 2019. No one is being kept in the loop from a director position or below but keep hearing chirping there is more to come and Edgar made it clear that as of right now the people remaining are necessary but that could change at any time. Tuh. We are all expendable unless you know the right people. 💩💩

the corporate psych op terms, "town halls" are used to promote the "family" "community" "team" propaganda. You'll work harder, cover others for no extra pay or paid days off, etc. Do not be duped in the US enterprise call the puddle of filth

I was on the Optum Town Hall call and although I am on a team that should not have been on that call, but I get where they are coming from. There are way too many clinical people being paid exorbitant salaries to do very little work. Paying overtime for employees who aren't producing 125% (it's been this way for years so stop complaining about that). I find issues sitting in ORS boxes that are dated late October, early November that haven't even been touched for a clinical review. So maybe if people would start putting an effort into what they are being paid for, the entire clinical department wouldn't have to suffer the consequences. JUST A THOUGHT

The open hostility and accusations are beyond the pale. As a company and senior leadership team, they have failed to provide staffing, tools, etc for years. Now, all of a sudden it’s the fault of staff that we have a backlog? Senior leaders rolled out a eight-hour a month wellness time for all initiative to “humanize the workforce”. It was rolled out as take it when you want /need and informing your leader is a courtesy. Now they say that an entire department “misinterpreted” it. There is zero accountability from senior leaders. I’m sure they will ride off into the sunset with their hefty bonuses after getting rid of the real workforce.

What does ECS and EAP?

Full disclosure I am no longer there by my own accord, but left right as they sent the first reorganization email. I remember December 2019 very well and one of the reasons I left. I have reached out to some former colleagues on EAP teams and they seem to no nothing. They weren’t affected in 2019 but I can’t imagine them being spared this time around at least their leadership. There have been many procedural changes and demand for reduction in talk time. They don’t allow them to attend town halls and heard they have been cancelling team meetings. And I am aware of one dedicated team being split in half which I have never seen in all my tenure. I hope people if they do know things will communicate them.

And other departments as well? Obviously, ECS has been impacted already but there are other divisions that are feeling uneasy. Sudden undeserved hostility and extreme micromanagement towards otherwise top notch employees seems to be the trend across the board.
