Ohio was a great choice: cheaper, more available land; manufacturing friendly government; strong educational pipeline (THE Ohio State) as well as a strong community college system; and several large metro areas to draw from (Cincy, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Columbus and Dayton). There wasn’t cr*p in Oregon until Intel built it’s fabs.
The choice of Bechtel like choosing Ohio is all about politics.
Pick a critical electoral state for the fab. Pick an all American construction company for the pork barrel spending on roads and buildings. Intel has built a ton of fabs and never used those guys, why now? All politics and payoff not about competence, how far has the company fallen.
You people know nothing of what you speak.
2 new fabs are being built in Oregon too. They are huge. I think one is being built in Vancouver, Washington too.
They get that money from the Semiconductor Bill grants via the federal government.
OMG I thought it was Albany, Oregon! I just moved into a home there!
Such a joke they’d not be building without free government money as the business has evaporated to fill these fantasy fabs.
A field of dreams dream, build it and they will come, year right. Why late, high cost, poor yields and arrogant customer service.
New Albany, OHIO. Anyway, there is not enough demand for Ohio either.
