Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

How to explain that TD still has many talented employees?

Not all who stayed are deadwoods, as is the prevailing opinion here.

Here is why talented people are still around.

  1. Domain: Data & Analytics is quite an interesting domain to be in and you get to work on exciting technology and have a huge impact on customer outcomes. Teradata and other vendors like Databrick, SF, CSPs play in this market, so its a great space to be in.
  2. I joined Teradata 3 years ago and I enjoy the familial environment. No a-s-holes here..atleast not in Engineering/Product area.
  3. Impact: If you feel, you have a high impact, you should stay. Teradata's small settings gives you a wider reach cross functionally and access to ELT.

Lack of talent is certainly the issue. Incompetence in the boardroom and C suite.

All the smart ones are at AWS and Snowflake. Why would a smart person stay at Teradata?
