Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

@OP I have stopped shopping at Walmart because no one speaks English and everything has to be locked behind glass then put into another lock box to take to the counter to pay. What is wrong with Walmart. Get out of the immigration business. Look at the parking lot, it’s mostly empty now.

H1B workers take jobs from US workers. Send them home.

It’s because it’s cheaper to hire from India. It’s cheaper to hire an H1B than an American.

To be fair Amazon does this, too.

Plus Walmart expects India to be the next huge middle class and they want to get imbedded in that country early. They’re currently fighting the Indian government to get established over there.

Ps. I don’t hold it against Indian people. They want a better life the same as any person. I do thing the labor laws need to change though to promote hiring American citizens if the job is in the USA.

Maybe, it is because they will show up, do their job and get paid. No complaining, no excuse of why they can't do something, no calling in every other day, no goofing around and taking smoke breaks every 20 minutes or hiding in the bathroom for 1/2 hour. They want to work and make a better life for themselves.

I don’t believe the Walmart culture ITSELF is bad. I remember when it was good and healthy. Now, it’s been manipulated and twisted and it’s horrible. All (or certainly most) of the gold badges I know are just waiting for the clock to tick before they bail.

Surely, Sam would truly pu-e his guts out if he could see what happened to his company that was once based on values such as respect for the individual.

It’s why so many engineers have been leaving. If you’re American and a software engineer Walmart is a place to start your career and leave or demand a ridiculous salary and quiet quit. The culture absolutely sucks.

It's not the H1B visas you need to worry about, it's more about OPT and B1 visas these days. Neither have a cap and can be more easily manipulated

To the last poster: that’s total BS and your ignorance on the subject shows your woke beliefs.

Walmart uses H1B workers because they get them cheap and don’t have to pay benefits. Many of the consultant houses offer deals and rate reductions the more Walmart uses their services. On top of that, they trick Walmart into using their “Off shore” services in India, effectively shifting the work away from US workers.

Walmart has become an expert at selling out US high tech / IT workers in favor of those H1B workers and offshore.

It wasn’t always like that, it got really bad when KAT took over ISD. But she doesn’t care, she’s not even from the US, she’s from Canada. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out her palms got greased to set Walmart down the H1B consultant road. Everyone was glad when she got fired, but the damage was done.

H1B workers take good paying and high tech jobs from US workers. There’s nothing good about that. No good cones from it. And, there’s plenty of fraud inside the H1B process.

All people deserve a job regardless of race, ethnicity or gender. Companies can’t discriminate. If they can produce appropriate employment documents,what’s the issue?
