What exactly do we gain from sponsoring the Thanksgiving Day Parade? It costs us a lot of money, but I don't see any returns on that investment. It used to be a great brand awareness driver, I understand that, but I don't think it's been driving any foot traffic to our stores for a while. So what's the point, when there are so many more important things we could use that money on?

Macy’s negativity stems from the fact that management at all levels ignores problems and hopes that by sweeping the problems under the rug they will go away.
The negative environment of Macy’s has gotten worse in the past six years under the direction of Jeffrey.
Jeffrey views Macy’s with rose colored glasses. He and his minions need to address the issues the are destroying this once great American institution. Instead they ignore them and say things like Macy’s is “Stress Free”. All levels of Sr. management needs a dose of reality.
The morale is bad because of "spacers' like the post below. All of you whiners that know nothing of work, hard work! I hope you find other employment elsewhere. Macy's does not need your negativity. Go home and count the trophies lined up on your counter...... that's right! Everyone should get a trophy so they won't cry!
To the “my question is “poster .
Learn some grammar and spelling.
It is moral of the story and not morale.
You must be one of JG’s flunkies.
But I will say the morale is as bad as I have ever seen it.

This a question about the Parade and has been answered.

This is a second question about the parade and has been answered.
Then it turned into the pay issue.
It is the business of the people being short changed by Macy’s .
New hires brag what they are making in my store. When I approached the people leader about the subject he said they don’t match salary. That to me is an admission of guilt.
People who have been working here for eleven years were just increased to 15 an hour this past June. Macy’s is advertising for new people at 15 to 20 in my area.
It must be Jeff Gannett in denial again telling people to mind their own business. 😂🤣😂🤣
My question is......how do you know they are really paid more than a tenured employee? Are you in payroll? Morale of the story....go to work, do your job and mind your own business.
Nobody is complaining about the parade. It is one of the good things that Macy’s organizes.
Read the threads someone was stating that Macy’s pays fairly. It is a known fact in my store that they are paying new hires a higher wage than some tenured employees.
Senior Management needs to wake up and correct this injustice. Six, two, one is a cesspool of lies and deceit.
I really can't believe what I am reading here! Complaining about a parade! Thank goodness someone gives us something to smile about. You ungrateful Immature nerds. Grow up! You have a job, if you can't say good things about the company you work for leave! Don't let the door hit you in the back side. Better look at yourself before you go to the next place of employment. You might find the problem follows you. Because you are the problem.
I am a "tenured" employee with Macy's and I disagree with the last post. we do have equal pay in my store.....no one is complaining of unfairness in pay scale. It is what you make it. We all work hard as a team. No place is perfect. I enjoy my co workers and we try to make a difference. If you feel the way you do about your work environment maybe you should do what the first of all poster said. Move on.
The parade has nothing to do with the employee payroll.
To the “first of all” poster you need to wake up and realize how bad morale is in the stores. You say Macy’s is paying a fair wage???? Last year they were paying new hires 15 to 17 dollars and tenured employees 9 to 14 dollars.
This year they are finally paying tenured employees 15 but are hiring new people at 17 to 20 dollars.
You do realize how unethical that is ? Or did the Kool-Aid freeze your brain.
Also do you realize how many quality associates have left Macy’s due to this continued inequity in pay ?
Every time a tenured employee leaves it hurts Macy’s but management don’t care. That is why the stores are in the condition that they are.
The new hires that they are able to hire call off, don’t want to work nights or weekends, play on their phones, smoke weed in the restroom, fight on the dock and are robbing the company blind with out of control theft.
So when you say “move on “ that is some excellent advice. Good people are and should leave Macy’s toxic and unethical work environment.
The post was simply stating facts. Then went over the top. The parade isn't an 'out of pocket expense'. The point being research or ask before you assume a business venture should be vested into another expense.
Perhaps you could also ask 'why do Kohls and Target truly spend a large amount on commercials'? It's a form of advertising.
It sounds like the CEO wrote this response wow. True that people chose to work in Retail and you pay the price for doing so. This is why I would never go back to retail. Everything I stated is true after working for Macys and servicing the stores in a vendor capacity. I’ve met a lot of Management with this company including JG.
It's a highly sponsored event
First of all, before you assume, do your homework and get the facts.....this is almost 100 percent funded by advertising......2nd of all, this is an iconic tradition of Macy's. A spectacular event! How many millions gather to watch this ? Proud to be Apart of an organization that gives back to every community in the nation . It is called, "Giving back". As far as the comment about people in the stores..,,..you are getting paid a fair wage to do your job. You chose retail.....if you don't like it, move on.
Macys cares about keeping their name in the spotlight with the Parade and Fireworks shows. They will spend money on events like this, plus large meetings and travel for their Executives. The Colleagues in the Stores and Distribution Centers take a back seat despite working the hardest to keep the sites going.
