Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Better Options Than BPX

I just left this place and landed a geo role paying 20k more a year and they actually appreciate me.

Wish I would have left sooner. I hated the way I was talked to and treated. I reported these issues to Ethics and Compliance but they did nothing. The favortism and nepotism is awful at BPX. Only a chosen few are happy with their spot here. You are happy if you're in the clique. Those that see the behavior are compliant and complicit in it. They turn a blind eye to it out of fear for their jobs.

Everyone else is left unappreciated and unpromoted even when they deserve better. I know of multiple engineers, geologists, and other diciplines who are also leaving or who have left for similar reasons.

If you are thinking about working here then I highly encourage you to think again. You can do much better.

Whoever posted this, I totally agree. I just left too. I did not realize how much it weighed on me everyday. My advice would be to stay above reproach and get out when you can but do it the right way and be honest about why you are leaving when they ask. Give them a chance to correct their behavior when you do finally go. Don't stoop to their level.

Around what timeframe did you leave? The only geologist I'm aware of who recently left hasn't started his new role yet and he did not post this.
