He is going to staff Twitter with the same caliber of real engineers just like at Tesla and Spacex. There will be potholes along the way but I would not bet against him. He will get rid all of the pseudo engineers who know some programming language and to code but with no ability to analyze and solve complex problems. Programming in itself is more like technician work. Many of programmers have familiarity with open source software and know some programming language but nothing beyond that. At both Spacex and Tesla he is tacking very complex problems and knows how to hire real engineers. Tesla’s self driving will probably never work but it is a far more complex problem than running a website. So we will have wait and see what eventually happens.

There’s a direct correlation between Tesla’s stock price and Elon’s twitter offer. Tesla stock is down 49% since his offer in April, and Tesla stock is down 27% since October 28 when he took over. That’s not what the rest of the market is doing.

This is typical in many organizations even today and not limited to Tech; managers incentive is growth in team sizes to boost their own comp rather than adding value for shareholder.
