This person is way wrong- The moment Lowe’s started cutting department staff. I’d already been covering and doing freight for electrical and plumbing. Our genius Store Manager had the freight team ignore my freight to assist seasonal. To “punish me” he gave me tools. I worked and made it neat as a 1 man crew. But he had no clue I was quitting before the 3 day weekends hit. He had the management team ignore me, talk behind my back.
But I had a job, paying way more. nights and weekends off. No retail He said if they call for a reference he would say I quit on the “team”. Dummy didn’t know they recruited me because they saw my work. 2 yrs later the entire management team is gone and I’m Thankful to be on a 4 day weekend.
The store has been an absolute wreck every time I return. Get out while you can. If you have a brain and work ethic, you should leave retail. Those that can’t do, become Lowe’s Management…. Allegedly
Nope just a person with a work ethic. You should find the door you came in and turn around and leave. Why stay and complain about everything when u can just quit. I’m sure if it’s Lowes or any other company your productivity level won’t be missed as it isn’t probably measurable anyway.
I wonder if the card processor will call out like last year.
Our pathetic c-u-c-k of a store manager went around to each dept yesterday reminding us all that black friday attendance was mandatory. Sorry I will be in food coma and hangover mode.

Yes it's just money. I've seen the nicest people change for the worse when promoted in this company. Most mgrs suffer from stockholm syndrome and it's sad to witness. That's why so many self sabotage through unethical behavior.

My bet is you're an ASM who guzzles down the koolaid. A true lowes lifer.
During the freeze last year I made sure to call and ask for our SM. He whined like a puppy how there were no employees to work. Everyone on our MST team called out the entire week. We knew it would be a sh*t show so we stayed home. Only a couple lifers eventually went it. And those same people felt like foolish mules at the end of the day. Our MST district clown was texting us in group text every day. It was beautiful. Seeing his panic.
Great attitude. Will that give U more time to play video games ? Try being part of the solution and stop recruiting people to enlarge the problem. I know you hate to keep getting extra bonuses and enlarged winning together bonuses right? Take your educated attitude and start your own business. Failure is in your blood.
Nothing matters anymore, the day will go on as usual. I promise you they won't lock the doors and close the store due to callouts.
It's just money
Time with family and away from that evil stress is far more important.
If you are scheduled the day before and after Thanksgiving and call out either day they will not pay your holiday hours. Former lowes employee 19 years and that the policy
I've called out every black Friday in the last 7 yrs. I call the store, I call and text my mgr, and I email the night before. They hate that. Cover your a** and enjoy the day.
The managers practically never answer the phone. You get threatened with no call no show if you don't call in. Calling the manager on their cell phone doesn't count, either. I hope about half the company calls out for Black Friday.
