Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Feeling cheated and lied to?

It is unbelievable how many people only now, after so many years wasted here, feel cheated and lied to during their career at GF.

Feel so cheated and lied. GF is run by these fraud, failed and incompetent leaders who have no integrity. Whole system is rigged and corrupt.

Every system that is in place at GF, i.e HR, Compass, Glint, etc. (and I assume many other companies) is there to document and track employees to justify firings and/or protect the company from lawsuits.

That. Is. It.

I've seen more employees let go with above metrics as justification than I've seen those same metrics used for justification with promotions.

Now understanding how the system really works within Globalfoundries for promotions and raises etc. and how the whole compass and employee reviews is all a fake sham system, etc. I do also feel lied too and cheated

Did you seriously intend to spend your entire career at a tech company making outdated tech?

I don’t feel cheated or lied to. When the semiconductor industry is good it’s good and when it’s bad it’s bad. This upcoming resource action isn’t bad. Some of us older folks have seen thousands of employees walked in the course of week. We’ve seen fabs shuttered. We’ve also ridden the waves of the ups and downs. We’ve seen companies with better and worse management than GF. We’ve moved where the work is. Semiconductor demand will decrease and so will the number of people needed to make them. It will pick back up and so will number of people needed to make them.

The golden age of Semiconductor employment in the US has come and gone. Sadly, it’s now like any other manufacturing industry.
