Thread regarding Twitter layoffs

2.0

Musk sent an email to all employees outlining "Twitter 2.0," stating that it will "need to be extremely hardcore." Long days, intense work.

People must click "yes" to confirm their participation in this by 5 p.m. ET tomorrow, or they will be laid off for three months.

@jey+1jK1xQJb When you are paying the kind of money twitter pays, having many exceptional employees in a department would not be surprising.

Sounds like the only folks that will remain at Twitter are the ones without a family or social life or the ones whose visa is bound to their job.

Working 80hours a week, commuting 2 hours each way through traffic jams (since you're supposed going to the office every day) - that effectively turns your apartment into a storage room you can take a shower and a dump in.

And those apartments are pricey.

😱 omg!, it seems true (an econ degree).

But then.... How does he builds those rockets?

This proves that either college is a waste of time or he is being assisted by 👽!

Shocking!

Then again, Musk will drive talented people who refuse to be treated like cr-p. Generalizing all Gen'Zers as 'lazy' is intellectually lazy to begin with. Many work really hard, and the smartest ones will bail on Twitter because at the end of the day, when you are talented and hard working, why work for a jerk?

Musk has a soft degree (econ) - he's never done anything with physics or materials or anything like that... He lies a lot. Look how much he lied about his degree:

Coders should run the company.

Silly BAs with silly PowerPoints should go.

Just let them stay and give them all a 80% pay cut

This would work except then Musk spent the morning scrolling his Twitter feed so he can respond to Pokémon posts and post a picture of a tether ball. Is this what he means by “hardcore”? I can’t imagine working for this guy, definitely not “hardcore” if he’s not.

Obviously Musk is a slave driver from you-know-where, he probably confuses Twitter with an emerald mine. He makes it clear he does not intend to compensate people for the additional amount of work they are supposed to put in to maintain their employment, and that appears illegal, to say the least. I would read very carefully the verbiage in that link before clicking it; if you know an attorney, ask him to weigh in.

Product Owners and Scrum Masters are now the dominant controllers of Twitter. All your base are belong to us. Imagine a coder trying to comprehend requirements. Lol.

I straight away deleted that email. He can fu-k off. I take my severance. Three months means four week travel and two months new job search. I already have recruiters knocking asking so yea no thanks.

Amazing how he doesn’t seem to care that he alienates the staff. At this rate he won’t a great return for his billions. Although I sometimes feel like he wants Twitter to fail so he can save some taxes.

Wonder what his investors think.

I argued once wanted to understand from our Elementary School teacher, why basically all kids get an A. She explained that they are all great and exceptional. I tried to explain, that in Germany, where I grew up, a normal distribution is applied to each class.
Elon seems at the level like this teacher. If everyone needs to be exceptional, everyone is normal, and nobody is exceptional. He then needs to fail everyone.

Which level of math does he know? Or English?
I am German and not native speaker. May be someone understands

A Fork in the Road

Going forward, to build a breakthrough Twitter 2.0 and succeed in an increasingly competitive world, we will need to be extremely hardcore. This will mean working long hours at high intensity. Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade.

Twitter will also be much more engineering-driven. Design and product management will still be very important and report to me, but those writing great code will constitute the majority of our team and have the greatest sway. At its heart, Twitter is a software and servers company, so I think this makes sense.
If you are sure that you want to be part of the new Twitter, please click yes on the link below:

Anyone who has not done so by 5pm ET tomorrow (Thursday) will receive three months of severance.

Whatever decision you make, thank you for your efforts to make Twitter successful.

Elon

The email arrived at 12:01 a.m. PST, as with previous major changes announced on Twitter.

It states that "only exceptional performance will constitute a passive grade" and that Twitter will be driven by engineering, with coders playing a key role.
