Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Are people really hoping the merger won't go through?

It seems ridiculous that people think this still may not happen.

Sale of VMware: One rich guy asked another rich guy if he could buy his company, then a bunch of other rich guys said yes, so they could all get richer.

I hope the deal stays in limbo for years!

That way the company can be in the worst possible condition before Hock takes it over.

Dead man walking here…

Even if it is WORSE, at least Hock won’t have another infinity stone.

What is the different? It is across the tech industry just like FB, Amazon, Twitter and etc regardless who is taking over. Whichever regions that overgrowth might see more severe impact.

Yes, above all else, customers and partners are hoping the deal DOES NOT go through!

Employees will suffer yet, but ultimately they will suffer the most. The only winners are Michael Dell, Hock, and Broadcom shareholders.

All those who just want to "stop the deal" or hopes it falls through at this point,
just remember that will actually be WORSE. cuts will still be coming. the stock price will crash, and new mgmt will replace those we have now.

Don't think you're going back to work from home while meeting with your POD and and sliding by. You wont. It will be a different pain. A worse one, more than likely.

Doesn’t matter if it falls through or not. The culture is spoiled and has been for a while. People were looking for the door before news of the purchase occurred.

The 6 investment banks that are bankrolling this would not give the same terms today as they undoubtedly agreed in May, the world has changed and interest rates have increased significantly, cash is no longer cheap.

Once the deal completes they will likely be below water on the deal (just as they were once the Citrix deal completed) and have to resell the debt at a loss. Therefore any get-out clause they can exercise they will. What we don’t know is how long the finance package stays valid before either party can break or the terms have to be refreshed (just like if you agree a mortgage they aren’t going to hold it indefinitely once interest rates rise) just because you couldn’t complete the purchase on time.

It could be the case that if an EU second phase review pushes timelines beyond February the financing needs refreshing at current market rates (if there is even an appetite to do so).

So there is a chance that the deal may not go through. However, if it happens or not, the die is already cast and Hocks plan will simply be executed by VMware management with the same net results. There’s no going back from here and anybody who thinks that will happen is living in a dream world.
