Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

My motivation has all but vanished

With so many layoffs occurring and the likelihood that I will be let go in the coming weeks, my motivation has all but vanished.   Even if I am not let go immediately, I believe it is only a matter of time before I am, and until then, I will be required to give them maximum effort for months and months. The entire situation makes me want to quit, but I won't receive severance, so I'm forced to wait to be laid off.
I regret ever having chosen to work for Citrix.

A lot of good advice here. I'll just say that it would require the promise of a LOT of money for me to put up being miserable for months on end, and that is not going to happen.

My thoughts. Try to be just a little bit courageous. You are really not a victim unless that's your choice. Imagine the upside. If you're skilled in your role, then you are likely missing out on a salary and bonus increase by leaving CSG sooner, rather than later.

There is still a demand for skilled talent in the U.S. marketplace. So, try to become motivated to start over. There's nothing left at CSG but more disappointment.

It’s not even all about comparing severance to higher pay. The longer you stay in a job you hate takes a toll on mental health and on future prospects. It’s unlikely you’ll accomplish anything big at Citrix while you wait. It’ll be clear to interviewers for your next gig that you were demotivated.
Waiting at Citrix only makes sense if you’re planning to retire or if you’re an exec making the big bucks.

Keep this in mind about severance. I can't blame anyone for waiting, but...

  1. Whatever the amount is, I can't speak for other countries, but in the U.S., they are automatically going to withhold 22 percent in Federal taxes, and state tax depending on where you live. The amount you think you're getting isn't going to be the amount that ends up in your pocket.
  1. I have heard rumors that the Citrix severance isn't quite what Citrites have received in the past. I don't have details, sorry, but keep it in mind as a possibility, that you'll be a bit disappointed.

I'm not a corporate hack trying to convince people to quit. I'm just saying that if you have a chance to get another, better-paying job now, it might be financially (and mentally) worth it to do so and leave all this nonsense behind. You have to make the call.

"So I'm forced to wait to be laid off" tells me a lot about you.

Not sure why you are presenting yourself with that false limitation. If the only reason you are waiting around is to get a severance and only then will you get a new job you are doing yourself and your family a disservice.

Start looking now and get yourself another job don't wait around for something that may never come... that's just stupid.

People who just sat there waiting for severance right through the Great Resignation, when jobs were aplenty. Good luck finding another job now in this economy, even if you get “blessed” with a severance.
Never got why being in a deadbeat job with no end in sight just for severance is somehow better than just moving to a new gig with higher pay.
