Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

CMO is a joke , SM is the ring master

Ringing the bell is the biggest achievement for the year? Really.

Anyone listed on the exchange can request to ring the bell (a simple form to fill) and they get on the list.

Let’s plant more trees and not talk about layoffs. Wasted opportunity in an all company meeting. No justification for VP hires moments before layoffs?
People have amnesia and they will forget layoffs happened and move on with time until we do that next year.

“Truth to Power” poster is accurate. I have never seen the culture of a team decimated in just a couple of months. and all the result of her and 3 of her hand picked new hires. (The 4th WV seems ok so far).

The accelerated rate of attrition in marketing this year is no surprise. At the current rate (and number of those trying to tough it out until the March bonus), I’d bet on at least a 50%+ turnover in Americas marketing from Jan 2022-May 2023. Most of those here 4+ years.

I hoped things might improve as the year went on. They only got worse. Constant 50+ hour weeks robbed my energy and time to look elsewhere, as I suspect is the same for several others who’ve remained. That will change.

At least RP was a good person even though she was not capable of leading enginnering. JW is not a good person and now we are stuck with her since it is so hard to admit you are wrong with a diversity hire. We are just horrendous with our executive hires. Sad

JW is all about self promotion and trying to fill the shoes of a good CMO who cares about his people, but failing miserably because she is the epitome of every stereotype personified. Hire your best friend as your Chief of Staff, hire less qualified and experienced people you know and bully the seasoned, tenured people who aren't diverse enough. Call one of your black direct reports' people to confirm what your white direct report is trying to tell you. Refuse 2 hotels that are good enough for us minions and make SM's Executive Assistant find you a much more expensive hotel that is worthy of you. Drive around new Mexico in luxury cars while you tell your team to walk in pairs at all times. Bully and dismiss, lie, flip flop, and back peddle when caught without a good response or explanation; and of course take retribution through your new-hire diversity buddies so it passes over the radar of Lefal, HR, and SM. it's an awful shame that she turned out to be one of the pettyest, self-serving, arrogant, unqualified, and out-right meanest people I've come across in a professional position in years, let alone a C-level role. What's worse is that now, due in no small part to the optics of reversing a diversity hire, combined with the signing bonus and golden parachute package she has, they can't afford to fire her. Instead, they will inevitably continue to hemorrhage good, talented, skilled, knowledgeable people instead. All we can hope for now is one or multiple law suits that force her out. Happy with your legacy, JW?

Why are you surprised the diversity hire is in way over her head. They ask for mediocrity and didn’t even get that.

And who says you can’t put Lipstick on pig?

How many jobs were lost so that the ELT could do a boondogle to Mexico. Shameful.

the intent of layoff was to let go a small fraction of people but scare a big proportion of the remaining people. I suspect more quiet quitting and a bigger attrition, morale is the lowest of all time.

Don’t join the rut, just start looking for another job. The big companies are downsizing but there are plenty of small companies (bigger than TDC), that are still hiring.

"The rah-rah about the ELT in that moment was a slap in the face to everyone laid off, and everyone who remains who has to pick up the pieces from the lay" ... same sentiment

The stock tanked the day they rang the bell...

You misheard: she stated biggest accomplishment of the decade. Not the year. Making it that much worse from someone here less than a year.

The rah-rah about the ELT in that moment was a slap in the face to everyone laid off, and everyone who remains who has to pick up the pieces from the layoff.

They really missed an opportunity to humanize themselves and address this head on at the start of the meeting, with empathy and then lay out how they aim to prevent us from performing poorly with revenue next year.

Shame. Damn shame. I applaud those who had courage to call this out directly in the live stream comments. There are hundreds who would have reacted to their statements in support if we did not have fear or complete apathy. And I applaud the woman who took to the mine in the Q&A.

They're all a joke. Added no value, rather devalued the company since they've joined.
Look at revenues YoY in the past 8 years.
