I got an offer from a much smaller company and now I'm in a dilemma. On the one hand, I think that small company might be a liberating place to work, but on the other hand, I don't know how good a career decision it is. Anyone else having the same dilemma? Any advice?

Much Smaller company will not be paying any severance packages as they cannot afford when it comes to taking out cash to pay the packages. You will be wearing a lot of different hats to work for Much Smaller company that you will learn a lot and also with stresses too. You might develop a better relationship with people you working with or you might hate them so much. Much Smaller company have less red tapes and let micromanage or metric management. Much Smaller company have poor benefits overall as they cannot afford it either. If you do not have much cash buffers and have high debt to cash ratio, you will put yourself in a very bad situation. Your stress will go up to the roof next year. Much Smaller companies will be the first one that to go down when recession dragging as their cash flow go dried in no time. Available cash is very important during recession.
Let me guess, what really caused your dilemma is the much lower compensation offered by the smaller company. But you have to keep in mind that we are now in a recession. If you don't take it quickly, someone else will.

Why the fu-k are you asking us, and why did you waste all your time on this thi g if you weren't sure? Someone else could have taken those interview spots and wanted the Jon, but you parked on it.
Another great example of Meta employee's selfish, self-centered thougt process and inability to make a common sense decision. Wonder why the company is so bloated and useless.
Check their funding on CrunchBase. Make sure they have enough to get through a recession.

Depends on where you are in your career, at early career, small companies are the best.. though you get paid less, you get to learn a lot..
