Thread regarding Western Digital Corp. layoffs

I cannot find WARN records about WDC layoff

with my understanding of this company, they will be letting people go at the rate under 50 people at a time. I think they do not want to trigger to file a WARN report.

It's there on the WARN spreadsheet. It looks like it came out the same day as when the layoff happened. 11/9

I was let go in September and we did not hit WARN, so we only received 2 weeks notice. Cruel! I think they are planning rifs in the spring and will spread them out so they don't have to pay employees the 2 month notice. If you want to attract top talent, you need to show that you treat your current employees with respect and dignity. Who do you think will hire older workers? Walmart! How do you think we will feed our families while you are spending your millions.

They have done it again. Forcing many people to voluntary retirement and others laid off another example of age discrimination.
The management on the SSD side is so callous in understanding achievement, education and experience.

Are these layoffs coming from the GO campus? Will they give out packages to those who want to retire?

Well typically they keep paying people for 2 months. They need to issue WARN act one month before layoffs. So if they pay people for more than 1 month after layoff then effectively the warn act comes out after people get laid off.

There was a WD layoff not too long ago where they actually warned us there would be layoffs. But yeah, usually they structure it so you don't find out until after.

The 2 months pay IS the notice

When I was laid off a few years ago, the WARN notice was filed the same day as the layoff.

Here is the official California regulation: "A company with a covered establishment that has 75 employees or more is required to file a WARN notice if the company lays off 50 or more employees during any 30-day period."

If WDC stays under this threshhold, they don't have to file.

WARN requires 60 days notice. More people being laid off....I know o just got boot after years of dedication. Got promoted less than year and now terminated.

I think the WARN act won’t trigger yet because those laid off are officially still on the books until Jan. 13, 2023
