Thread regarding Lam Research Corp. layoffs

Any news of layoffs?

Could there be layoffs in the next few months? Haven’t heard any info but feel like it’s gotta be coming.

if there is a recession later this year, it will drag out for 18 months, there could be second round of layoffs?

$50 Billion dollars to Ukraine war will lessen the recession in US. No need to layoff.

Microsoft just announced a 5% reduction in headcount. Most likely Lam will also have 5% cut, that seems to be going rate.

Businesses can't even find workers because government is giving away money so that some people rather get free money than work. This free money is pumped back into the economy masking the real problems. How long can this last?

It feels like the economy may not be as bad next year given the massive amount of money the government is pumping into the system; however, they're just avoiding the pain for later.

The ban on China is nothing new but companies have ignored it for years so no one really knows if they will follow through on the restrictions. I read an article that it is not easy for the government to go after companies.

I don't think the layoffs will be bad otherwise, they would have announced last year.

LAM is cancelling Contracts and Purchase Orders at a rapid pace. With Lam barred from shipping new Fab equipment in to China, it is forecasted they will be taking a 2.5B hit to sales FY2023. LAM, KLA, and Applied Materials will be forced to layoff employees to maintain the inflated stock prices. It's sure to be a blood bath shortly for the newly hired employees and subcontractors.

Lam suppliers have had hiring freezes for the last 6 months. That does not sound good.

I think you might be right. One of Lam's major suppliers is not hiring and they usually have 2+ openings all the time. I might be due to the fact that China is not buying Lam stuff because of the ban.
