Vacation

Hope you have a good manager, because I feel drained but I can't get a vacation. My requests for vacation are continuously denied because the company needs me to do work. Anyone else with this problem? I need advice. How did you act in a situation like this?

In CO and CA, vacation accrual is/was considered compensation. Those accrued hours are yours and payable at time of termination by ADP payroll. Several retirees are still waiting on that payout beyond their final check and are taking legal action.

find out how much time off others in your department have had- then address with HR. you will most likely find someone has had multiple weeks.

If you work in most of the R&D teams in North America, you're treated quite fairly with vacation time and being able to take it.

If you work in support, you're SOL.

If you work in India, good luck with vacation approvals and work from home.

name and shame the dept where they have this practice. We are still golden. My manager and I take leaves and we depend on each other and work quality has not hampered.

The system/pc/hardware managers used to be great and fought for us but then they decided to axe our entire management team and throw us under a bunch of brown nosers and people scared to speak up on things being down stupidly.

Nope. Your manager is weak.

Basically was told we had the same vacation and sick days as before basically, just minus the extra sick that rolled over and no payout of vacation days when you get canned.

Now you know why they kicked over to "unlimited vacation!" as a policy. It's easier than having to account for unspent PTO.
