Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

There is no logic when it comes to cuts

Some excellent engineers have been cut. It is an immeasurable loss and I think it will be difficult to attract such competent people again. Also, some people were cut who have only recently started working here. What is the logic behind these cuts? It's as if there is no logic at all, they simply cut random employees.

You will all be on the list eventually as Teradata is absolutely roast. So May question why good engineers were cut. Your answer is right in front of you. Teradata is over, nothing new and exciting and customers are moving off of Teradata as quickly as they can. Why would they need engineers when HA is incapable of innovation and strategic direction?

They cut you based on how expensive you are. That's why so many teradactyls got picked. New hires are also more expensive compared to an equal existing employee.

Assuming libel was intended to be liability?

They wanted to cut teradactyls only. But to avoid any libel issues, cut down on some newly hired folks as well.

It is not random, but VPs are asked to make a naughty and nice list.

I was not cut from engineering but two from my team were who were good. I don't know who they should have cut though because our skills are all about the same. I probably would have cut me.
