I randomly left a month ago after working at WD for a long time. Very glad I did. The company seems like it's just going to bleed out until it dies and do perpetual layoffs.
WD creates so much of the world's data storage products yet the company is worth next to nothing compared to so many other companies that basically do nothing. So mismanaged.
Hdd program teams affected.
@1kll+1jCqfRWl I don't know the Law firm, but if you're over 50, it's basically impossible to land a job the traditional way (you need to know someone) in the Bay Area. Even if you re-skill your options are limited.
Good luck w/ lawyers- they will have to be able to show WD went after a 'protected class' which will be hard to do unless you get to discovery. Go talk to some, consultation is usually free.
I resigned and still went to court and got them to pay Unemployment. Good news is their legal department is almost clueless.
Over half of the engineers of my team in FPG in Milpitas were laid off.
It is no secret in sales that JK wants the old white guys out. He talks about this with his direct reports . He has placed the future on new college grad program that he runs. He also takes out men who he just dies not like, with no understanding of the value they provide and hands over duties to his internal circle. EB is a perfect example of a bo-b who now has his nose in retail business. Completely incompetent..but a good ole JK boy. JK rotates his pets around the business.! AD GK AND EB.
How many people from FPG were laid off?
I was also impacted by the Rif today. I'm an older employee and given it's the holidays (when nobody is hiring), plus a recession, I'm worried how I will make ends meet with high inflation. I feel I was laid off because older employees were the target in this rif. HR in this company are useless and only here for management, and today I lost respect for legal and the compliance team as they did not ensure fairness in this process given the young people were not impacted. Does anyone have the name of a good lawyer as this is clearly age discrimination. I remember a few years back there was a class action lawsuit, so I'm wondering if anyone has the name of the law firm that represented those employees. I just don't understand how DG can sleep at night knowing his salary is bleeding this company and we are losing our jobs as a result. Just think how many jobs could be saved if he accepted a lower salary to take one for the team. As others have said, ELT going to Bali during a rif is pathetic and they should be ashamed of themselves.
Sad times!
FPG (Flash Product Group) also lost some good talents today.
