Thread regarding Twitter layoffs

Don't give up

Yes, for some it will be difficult to find the next job. The first week, you'll get many calls regarding your resume and interviews. The second week, not as much, and the third week, even less. Then you feel depressed, cause you've been trying to sell yourself to all these companies and going to interviews and repeating about all your skills and still you're not getting an offer. Pretty soon, all you will do is watch TV all day instead of looking for a job cause you've applied to so many jobs already and haven't had much luck. Well, I say, instead of watching TV, get online and refresh your skills. Do the training/tutorials. Look at interview questions and see how others have answered them. Sharpen your skills. Speak clearly and with enthusiasm. Have confidence in yourself. No one will find a job for you but yourself. One of my colleagues in his early 60's found a job after six months. He didn't give up and neither should you. Remember, you are in this wonderful, beautiful, free country where there are many opportunities. People in other countries aren't as lucky as we are in USA. Life could be a lot worse, so think positive, have confidence, and smile.

I think everybody should read this - this is sound advice. I copied it from @1wlm+1jyamlKC.

Tech Interview Process ;

  1. Meet with on-shore hiring Manager, his right-hand person and HR. Several tech-relevant questions for the position, with lighter small-talk. Everything goes great.
  2. Hiring Manager suggest you meet with their their off-shore "guru" as the final step.
  3. Call with off-shore "guru" at 2am my time. Cannot understand a word this guy is saying due to a very thick accent. Does not go well.
  4. Interview over. No call back.

Befoer you start studying and brushing up your skills, get some kind soul within the company that you plan to interview with - to find out if the job advt and job opening is for real, or if it is meant to satisfy a pre-hired employee's Green Card application. Long overdue for this scam to come out in the open.,
