I know that my company provided a much less generous severance. Being laid off sucks, but I'm sure your severance package will go a long way in softening the blow. If Oracle offered anything close to that, I'd be praying to be laid off night and day. In any case, I wish you all luck in finding new employment.

I am impressed with how Mark handles the laid off. This is a very sweet deal comparing to any tech companies out there. Lengthly explaination ( it shows how much he felt for it) and every generous package even for new hired. I used to work for Oracle. A total scambag. Lost benefits and all access hours after public announcement of layoffs and nothing really coming from Larry himself. Only aware of layoff when I can't access the building and manager had to come out to notify and said good bye. Not a big fan of Mark but he handles well.
Ex-Oracle here too. Meta did way more than they needed to. Employees laid off got:
- A letter from Mark (Larry and Safra have yet to write anything)
- Admission that Mark failed (Larry and Safra think they are Gods)
- Generous severance (Oracle employees got WARN + 2 weeks)
- An understanding of a path forward (Larry and Safra think they are Gods)
- Services to help find their next job (Oracle employees can look inside the company to be re-hired—if they are lucky)
- Immediate vesting of RSUs (Oracle employees didn't see vesting)
