Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

This is a terrible disrespect!

Laying off some of the best and most loyal people with no prior notice at all.......

I hope that those who survive these cuts will remember this disrespect shown towards their laid off colleagues!

Companies expect some "professional behavior" from you: like staying late, giving advance notice when you leave, etc., but they won't do the same for you. And they wonder why productivity is so low in this industry in general? Why is "quietly quitting" a thing? This is why, there is no reason to put all your energy and a pluss in a job that you will lose without explanation. You work your hours, they pay, that's how the transaction goes. We have a life outside the walls of the company, that is where I put my energy, giving "an extra" will not prevent them from making another dismissal of talented people

Disrespect? This is the way it is in business and always has been. Wake up to reality, snowflake. You no longer have your helicopter mommy to help you cope.

you are really showing your spots when you misuse the term woke. I’ve was on receiving end of sept 2017 RIF… was given 1 hour to clear my things and leave . I had no Idea it was coming. I feel for you all..

This “terrible disrespect” is the norm here at Teradata the last 5 years I have been here… can count on it like clockwork most years. And it has been that way all 20+ years of my career at every company I have worked for, large and small.

You’ve been very fortunate if you’ve had the privilege of working where layoffs were rare and/or handled any differently. Honestly. This is just business as usual at corporate America. Everyone is disposable. And it sucks.

I’m not sure what you expect. A going away party and flowers? A chance to keep people on for X-number of weeks so that knowledge and transfer/instruction of projects in progress aren’t lost? That’d sure be nice… but let me know where you find that in America, because I’d rather work at a place with “kinder reduction in force.” I don’t think it’s out there.

Yes, the deciders on this one (outside consultants) indicated that the higher paid employees will represent the most savings to the bottom line.
Always heading to the bottom line, we are.

Most talented and hardworking guys are also paid higher. Unfortunately, that is one of the criteria.

Cheaper to contract out Engineering development than to have employees. It worked well when CS was outsourced to our rival. More will come. Need to fix the bottom line.

Can’t wait to see how the woke leadership spin this one. Is another privilege email on its way.

Were any of the ELT / woke cheerleaders let go? If not, you know what the criteria is for not getting fired.

At this point, nearly all of engineering are talented and hardworking. Any cuts there are cutting good people.
