Going private

Other legacy software players, as in the recently completed merger of Tibco Software and Citrix Systems, may go private and work out their transitions away from the glare of public markets, he said.

This is one of the things I'm most scared of. Doing things away from the public eye gives them much more room to make this whole process as hard on us as possible.

For sure it takes a particular mindset to make firing people your mission in life, but don’t forget the reason why you got here in the first place. The article calls it “legacy” software. That’s corporate lingo for ”fledgling old stuff”. If Citrix was a thriving software company that created healthy profits comparable to leading enterprise software companies, it would have not been acquired by Vista and Elliot in the first place.

So, more job opportunities for people like TK to strip mine the remnants of more failing software companies. Who are these people that work at private equity companies, and how on earth can they do this work without projectile vomiting over these peers?
