Mostly the title, I’m an ICE (Intel Contract Employee) but after the separations packages and FAQs were posted yesterday, I have no sort of separation compensation (in the event I’m laid off, ICEs are not eligible) and feeling more vulnerable since I could see a scenario im which Intel lays off lots of ICEs to avoid paying severance. Was hired less than a year ago and I just feel completely lost right now

It's sad that half of the people in this thread don't know the difference between a Contingent Worker (Green Badge) and an Intel Contract Employee (which is actually a type of Blue Badge).
It will probably be OK for you. In 2015-2017 ACT Intel fired lots of BBs, hired or retained lots of GBs and later converted them to BB.
From my experience GBs are generally retained while BBS are let go. BBs are a long term liability that intel gets off of their books when they’re let go. GBs are short term so intel doesn’t get the same benefits by getting rid of them. Of course it’ll all depend on what BU you’re in and what the priority of the project you’re working on is. Good luck
A lot of BB’s will be losing their jobs for the wrong reasons, but it will create gaps that will need to be filled and likely create opportunities for GB’s to fill them and potentially convert to BB’s in the future.
Just my perspective which is based on experience. When I and several others were laid off, we were replaced with both labor from lower cost GEO’s, and a large number of local GB’s were converted to BB employees.
It’s one of the ways Intel reduces expenses while maintaining just enough talent to make it’s deliverables.
You should feel vulnerable! That is why Contract workers are hired. Easy to get when tines demand it and easy to get rid of when times are hard.
I’m so sorry. Since you are hired as ICE you probably have solid and current skills. So keep your head up, you will be ok either way.
Hey, please hang in there. This is definitely a hard time for all of us.
Unfortunately Intel will fire the wrong people. The folks who will have a job within a week of being fired will be let go vs the bad cholesterol that has built up in terms of TA/COE and internal family and friends. Intel favors keeping those with higher grades who add little value.
There is no doubt Intel will mostly keep those who are twiddling their thumbs right now….wondering about the prospect of doing real work for less….since their skills are not valued outside Intel management.
This is why the drain is circling. It does not look good.
