The bloat in this company is phenomenal. I routinely sit in meetings with 10-12 people discussing for an hour some trivial design detail that in my previous job would be decided by the responsible engineer. A feature that was supported by one guy (part time) in a previous position is now handled by a 30-strong team in China. And somehow we're still hiring because the more useless we are, the more people we need to manage the waste.
My impression is that 10% are doing all the work and are busting their as--s off, and 90% are twiddling their fingers and enjoying the ride.
+1 if you're in the 10%
- 1 if you're in the 90%
Let's make it a poll :-)
It’s like family at Dell.I don’t think our managers would just send an email. It’s going to be based on performance. That is what is happening. Just work on making Dell a better place and it will work out
If 3700 were let go from Dell without notice and no WARN, you can be this site would be lighting up with negative comments.
also illegal without a WARN
They, the layer-offer, don't have the time and resources to layoff each individual being laid off.
Twitter dumped 3700 people in a day. That is one layoff every 2.5 minutes.
I think the point was that they're not doing it in person...at least have the decency to do it in person.
Why should corporations care? You get paid to do a job. When that job is no longer needed, the company gets rid of the job and anyone associated with that job. Should the company go on paying you for doing nothing but browse the internet all day long? If you owned the company, would you pay employees for doing nothing especially if you don't have enough work for all the employees who are currently employed. Where will the money come from to pay those employees?
