Thread regarding Twitter layoffs

Color me surprised

Not a Twitter employee, though i have ignored a couple of inquiries from Twitter headhunters.

I did not hold Twitter in high regard, due to many of its policy decisions (that, admittedly, were instituted by a small number of Twitter employees). I hold Musk in lower regard, though.

The acquisition didn't surprise me. The mass layoffs didn't surprise me. The fact that layoffs were done by email didn't surprise me.

The fact that Musk canned engineers while they were oncall? That's funny.

The fact that Twitter is begging some employees to come back three days later? Hilarious!

Y'all need to do me a favor: Ask for double if you are asked to come back. Not only will it be very entertaining, it will boost the MRP my employer uses for comp. Win for you, win for me!

If they were actually laid off/separated/unemployed and then asked to return, then yes, compensation could be negotiated. However, given the fact that everyone is still employed, trying this tactic would be cause for immediate termination with no garden leave pay and no severance.
