I am very worried, but I try to preoccupy myself with sending applications so that I don't have to think about what will happen next. I'm still curious though, what do you think are some of the most telling signs that someone's team is going to have huge losses?

Just look up what TK did to Symantec and CA after Broadcom acquired them. Focus on existing large logos, force them to accept higher prices, stop serving SMBs, and ki-l any innovation in the product. Anyone who does not serve this purpose is dispensable. My guess: massive lay-off at Citrix before the end of the month, another lay-off at both Citrix and TIBCO before the end of the year.
How does TK get to his stated $20B in revenue by only harvesting the base? Acquisitions alone cannot get you there - not sure CSG even had the cash or debt capacity to do any deals.
The head of IT is happily sharing the Kool-Aid because that's her public persona. I would bet that she is one of the first directors to bail out of here because she can definitely do better. And, she's only been with TIBCO two years, so it's not like she has a ton of personal investment in this place.
I agree, Krause's track record seems to indicate that he downplays the role of Sales and Marketing. The rationale: when you're harvesting the installed base by raising prices to improve the profitability of the largest high-revenue customers, also while intentionally abandoning low-revenue customers, the staffing models change significantly.
The whole business will become optimized (lower-cost) to milk the legacy software cash cows. Anyone not focused on this key objective is an unnecessary headcount.
Well, think about what TK's goals are:
- He doesn't like spending money marketing
- Concentrate on renewals for existing customers, vs. getting new logos
- All standard software internally. "Vanilla", as they've been calling it. No custom applications. No data centers; use the cloud.
- Replacing Salesforce
- All transaction processing in the back office will be done in India
Anyone on the wrong side of these goals is unnecessary in his eyes.
