Intelligent Hub hoses devices for over 7000 VMware employees

As a part of their ZTNA inititive VMware IT ran a compliance check on employee laptops and phones which resulted in the devices of over 7000 employees being locked out of resources such as email and internal websites. Some employees were totally locked out of their devices and have to have them reimaged which will cause them to lose anywork that is on their devices.

I was traveling in Europe with large team of other VMware employees and at least half of us were cut out of email and all apps. No warning. None of us got an email announcement or anything. Some had to order new laptops as theirs that they had OASIS would not add to network for some reason. It is crazy mess.

"Is this just bullsh-t to feed into the existing anxiety?" If you want confirmation then call Oasis IT and tell them that you are having a problem with Intelligent Hub and you will be directed to a Zoom room where a tiger team is waiting to assist you. They have been busy for days. It's real. I don't think that they will advertise it since this impacts the image of the Hub product which is for sale by VMware.

can someone point us to what really happened? My own devices were unaffected and I have no indication whatsoever that anybody has been impacted. No mention in any internal conversation, no alerts on the internal source, nothing. Is this just bullsh-t to feed into the existing anxiety?

VMware IT has made me so safe and secure that I can’t do my job anymore.

I’ve taken Vmware Slack, Teams, Outlook exchange off my personal phone. Would never think of installing WS1/Intelligent Hub. I know it’s not an option for everyone but I’m generally happier for it. Business can wait while I’m taking a walk at lunch.

@ 1j88JpYT Those are the same clay tigers. They were the ones created this mess. Security got so secured that no one can function. Haven't anyone calculated how much company is losing in term of $$$$ ? When personal device not working due to all these corporate apps you have to install and Intelligent hub locked up. You have no way to communicate anything unless you have personal numbers to reach out to someone to convey a message that you are out of mission.

Maybe hiring on DEI goals or whatever other factors that led to the current monoculture were not the right choices?

It’s not just personal devices. If your work laptop doesn’t have all of the agents and isn’t properly registered in intelligent hub you are locked out. Over 7000 employees got locked out. IT had to form a tiger team to deal with it. IT has layered one thing on another. Global protect, bitlocker, workspaceone, intelligent hub and who knows what else that can hose you.

Thousands of employees are locked out of office 365 including web access to email and one drive by workspaceone.

Simple don't use your personal device for work... reading some of the responses here, it's not surprising Hock will dismantle this place and how the f... did some of you get a job in tech

Outside of EUC (which isn't the spyware people imagine it to be) we actually have so many other agents installed on our corporate devices. Just run something like Emsisoft and check or a simple process scan on a mac or task manager...

IT has been hiring more and more people developing more and more useless apps that preventing employees to work smoothly. GlobalProtect should have been more than sufficient. Employees should not use their personal devices for work more so being tracked. If you logoff from work, it is your time. Why bother to check emails? If there are problems to deal with, wait the next day when your day starts.

No thank you to installing intelligent hub. I put boxer on my phone and that's it. The rest is too sketchy, it also has the added benefit of me not being able to use teams mobile.

I heard that employees were locked out of one drive. It will take sometime for It to sort out the problems. In the meant time...

Well so much for ZTNA being a great idea. Weren't people posting about problems with Intelligent Hub a few weeks ago? It tracks your activty on your phone if you install it.
