Thread regarding VMware layoffs

This Nov

Senior from HR. Major cuts this Nov. Most probably First or second Tuesday.

Over 300 engineers from Palo Alto and Seattle locations. Cut loose. No severance. Immediate termination.

I fought but no use.

Unlike this liar, I am actually in HR/TA. We are NOT having huge layoffs in November. I can say this with almost absolute certainty because I would be responsible for aiding in this action if it were true. It is not.

There are only two shareholdes - guess who - and they aren’t suing anyone.

"If Broadcom is calling the shots before the accquisition is complete, then vmware is going to be in a lot of legal hot water. If it can be proved, the shareholders of vmware will sue because the parties responsible for the company will have not been running the company -- a third party will be running the company."

You have to sue to get the evidence to prove impropriety. Since when have shareholders sued? They are mostly clueless and just waiting for their payout. The only way that there would be a lawsuit is if some predatory law firm saw a big payout for them and to get that they have to prove that the shareholders were cheated out of #millions, not just that there was some talks going on about deals.

Hock can not let money go waste till acq completes which is taking
much longer than he expected.

Worse than no severance, you will have to pay 3 months salary to leave!

Complete bullsh-t. OP what do you get out creating fear? Feeding your own insecurity? Got a small thing?

No severance? Yeah right a complete lie. . 300 layoff? Joke never be done in such a small manner.

You deserve to rot in he-l for trying to get people worked up.

I think OP is correct. Given the state of economy, stocks , the big tech is bleeding tons of money. I am getting intuition (which is correct most of the time), that something (layoffs) is coming up. Hock can not let money go waste till acq completes which is taking much longer than he expected. And it might be remote folks mostly just to scare people back to office without much resistance from them.

Brace for impact.

They are low performance employees based on Mark’s comment https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11006597/amp/Facebook-tells-managers-identify-workers-coasting-low-performers-leaked-memo.html

Completely wrong. This is happening this Monday. 100%. Hold on to your hats!

I’d it doesn’t happen this Monday, then probably Friday. Or maybe the week after that. If not definitely soon. Like before February. Definitely. 100%.

If it’s true then these employees must be GOD of coaster.

This is a lie. Pure and simple.

The company is incredibly worried about attrition. The last thing they would do is lay off a bunch of engineers and not give them severance - everybody would start looking for new jobs immediately.

Stop making sh-t up.

This stupid a-s company doesn’t care about lawsuits. Leaders have broken every employment law you can think of. They lie to partners and gaslights employees. I swear Madoff was resurrected and is in VMware somewhere.

Will it be based on performance? Why no severance? Could be ground for lawsuite. CA WARN act requires 2 months' notice at least.

Denial. VMware doesn’t care about you. There are monsters everywhere. Wake up and take control of your career. Stop flocking here looking for hope. There is no one flying the plane.
