Thread regarding Northwestern Mutual layoffs

Headwinds are JES New Buildings also get back into the office NOW!

I wonder if JES will mention at the next townhall the headwinds that NM has with the spend of 1.3 billon on new buildings in Milwaukee and NYC? It must be nice to build a statue to yourself in your home city with company money.

Then you have tiny top aka the silver fox DR saying get back into the office we need to fill these buildings up! ELG & SLT internally have the same rating of congress, it has become a free for all. People are asking for remote but now they are having mandatory days, good to see NM and DR's leadership in action.

As has been communicated we are the employer you are the employee.

With all the hatred towards male employees I can't blame them for not wanting to return. Who wants to go into an environment where you are shamed and degraded on a daily basis? The company better review their DEI initiatives and the people executing them before asking anyone to return to such a hostile environment.

@2uho+1j2JO45u Of course people are stirring the pot here and posting falsehoods. Remember how there was that one comment about how DR was going to mandate people to come in on Mondays? Totally didn't happen. Oh wait, it did.

Seems like this post and at least a couple replies were written by the same person based on spelling, grammar, and word choice. Other posts/replies critical of DR (not that he doesn’t deserve some criticism) are similar. You have it out for him, your “silver fox”. I’ve never heard anyone call him that. A lot of you predictions haven’t materialized or are, in my opinion, fabricated to stir the pot. Hope you’re having fun.

This has to be the talent pool DR have been talking about when getting people back to the office. JES’s selection pool #secretary #learnvest

Old school leadership from old school leaders. I’m sure JES’s chauffeur driven car goes up hill both ways to work.

Regarding the 4-5 days mandatory back full time in NYC and MKE they are holding the announcement to after the Pulse survey. They want to inflate the survey prior to the announcement, then announce and they will change the questions to make sure there is no decention shown in ongoing surveys.

Our group heard Q1 2023 and they are viewing all badge data to see who is coming in. Definitely big brother.

They are also holding the announcement of till after the survey of 'off' the last week of December. I'll just echo what others said in pervious posts, from our leadership they are not going to do that this year but again do not want to negatively influence the survey.

Good thing DR brought in all his people, thats all thats going to be left. Oh wait they are all remote...

As part of meetup Mondays, cookies are now being provided in the downtown cafeteria. This will definitely get people to come to campus! /s

I retired from NM last year from a tech position in NS/ER's org. During Covid, especially in 2021, we had trouble finding qualified experienced developers, and quite a few candidates would only accept employment if they were made permanent remote even if they lived in the Milwaukee or NYC area. Plus we hired permanent remote candidates from outside the MKE and NYC areas, and some HO employees moved to other cities (Denver, Austin, San Diego) with the condition of permanent remote. Directors and HR were approving these permanent remote requests in order to get the talent.

Fast forward to today, how is that working out for long term employees faced with mandatory office attendance who are working with newbies who can continue to work from home? I would think there'd be some friction, is that the case?

They are looking to move from the current policy of 3 mandatory to 4 by the end of quarter 1 2023. Our leaders have told us DR and JES are sick and tired of people not coming into the campus, people who work at home are perceived as lazy. There is a proposal to incentivize employees with a pay increase based on HO attendance. I don’t see that happening but it’s a proposal, though they do have the data.

I think these two really think, if I see you, you must be doing great work. Talk about a 1950-1980 understanding of work. From an employee base DR has really miss managed this and will be his legacy.

—0-1 percent merit, with record, profits and record growth
—High employee burnout
—Hiring and promoting only people he’s affiliated with
—Wanting to reinstitute the pantyhose policy
—The only reason we gotta work at home policy was because of NS and Covid

DR is fit for Congress. He talks a lot, bolsters of himself, only cares about himself, rewards his political operatives that are loyal, and doesn’t take any action on anything.

Like other posts, have mentioned it the man who cares the least about the employees is the person running the human resources department kind of hilarious kind of sad.
