They can absolutely give notice to 1,000 people in one day - it has happened before to the tune of at least 700 in the past rounds. I imagine it takes a lot of work to get to that point and that work has already started. Also, remember that different locales have different rules. In this case, it's likely it may be one or two big rounds - everyone is just guessing. There is a pretty tight lid on this info it seems.

I don't even know if it is practical to fire 1000 people in one shot. HR has to process those terminations. There is a lot to do.
People stop speculating here... for 2 weeks there is people spreading's panic with imminent layoffs starting tomorrow, then in 2 days, then next week..... No doubt it will happen, but lets take thing seriously and wait at least until the end of the budgeting of the BU is completed which is something that does make sense, but just creating panic and going in circles creating gossip its stupid.
It is obvious that these boards are full of cr-p. TK will actually be in Ft Lauderdale office holding the all hands. Do you really thing he would do something before he leaves Florida? Just think for a minute.

All hands it on Tuesday. So they could very well announce the 1000+ layoffs Monday, and start Tuesday with " we have had to make difficult decisions that will ensure the success of our Cloudification strategy!"
Or some version of that corporate drivel. Either way it is definitely sooner rather then later. And we will likely have another wave after each of the BU's finalize their budgets.
TIBCO has literally performed layoffs, on more than one occasion, directly following an all-hands meeting. They would even say so during the meeting. I would not be the least bit surprised if that happens again.
This is all speculation, and we'll know soon. It's when, not if.
They are not going to layoff people in the morning and then have an all hands right after. This all hands is the kick off for Cloud Software Group- Tow Mater's yard for old and rusty software.
In the all hands, there will be introduction of the new ELT, which is already showing on the cloud.com website, and in some shape or form, the need to adjust the financial plans, and potentially a direct statement about a reduction in force.
Then, the layoffs will start in a few days or weeks, but likely no later than end of October to stop the bleed of cash.
What makes anyone think it's either the first or the 17th? I'm not in denial about it happening but y'all just making sh-t up lol

Seems weird to have the layoffs, which have been publicly announced, hanging over the intro meeting. Seems more likely to use the intro meeting as a way to say there were tough decisions to be made, we lost good people, but we are a stronger company now, bleh bleh bleh
Not until after the all hands. No blood splatter for the intro meeting — just makes for a nasty setting/first impression. They’ll want to pump as many rainbows and unicorns possible. Rumors I’ve heard is week of Oct 17th. They’re not waiting, it’s just what the plan has been all along.
