Thread regarding Adidas layoffs

Massive spike in Black employees exiting?

Over the summer, it seems there was an insane wave of Black employees who left.

What is going on here? I’m white, been inPDX for 5 years and felt encouraged…maybe even relieved…from the UAR work in 2020 bc it was needed for a really long time. Now it seems it’s either been forgotten or maybe never worked in the first place.

It seems like talented prominent Black talent leading visible projects (HBE, digital, design, marketing, etc) are exiting on a daily basis and no one is openly talking about it. Am I crazy?

Alot of Black employees are leaving, particularly Black males. The general consensus is the brand is not doing much for retention, just recruiting new talent. I know many Black employees who simply left for better opportunities as adidas did not make enough bold moves at the mid-managerial level. Most Black employees saw UAR as a big failure and just more work, many are exhausted and are also actively recruited by other companies with similar initiatives. There were a few big hires at the top (S-level) and the Jackie-Joyner-Kersee PR move but most Black employees are in the same place they were 2 years ago.
