Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

What frustrates you the most here?

When I saw person who doesn't have the necessary skills getting a promotion, I gave myself a deadline by which I want to find something new. I'm starting to hate this place.

What disappoints me the most is I came back for a third time. Not real sure how I was brainwashed again aside from BF being yard manager. Have friends that went elsewhere and are making more with better perks. Not to mention more time off.

It's the prevalent level of incompetent leadership at all management levels. There is no direction or future in this industry. Sit back, watch the shiat show and wait for your severance.

The "House of Crawfish", I like that.

In my 38 years with Halliburton, the GOM was the Second worst place that I had ever worked, 24 years in International Operations, and the rest in various areas of the Continental US. (Laredo, Texas, was the all-time worst, its ONLY plus, being 150 miles closer to San Antonio, than was Mission)

After being bought Halliburton, I was amazed at the sheer incompetence of Senior Management. I sat through a town hall meeting where Jeff Miller stated there was no way barrel of oil could sell for less then $125. That was 15 years ago or so. But, he is an accountant not a student of the oil field. Another senior exec asked me to trouble shoot a troubled international operation. I demonstrated that the issue was management and not tools. I was asked how we could make it a marketing advantage. That’s what you are dealing with. If you stick you may get promoted for breathing air at big red. It won’t be for your talent. Ever.

It's not what you know but whose ar-e you kiss. Welcome to corporate America. It's like high school all over again, you have your good ole boys click, the DA click, the I got your back click. I got ID10Ts that are managers in my group that don't do SHIAT. Managers that show up for work sit on their arses surfing the internet buying hunting gear on Amazon to plan for their deer hunting trip in December and show you pictures of the deer and wild hogs they put down. Look at this 10 point deer I got. Whoo wee. Welcome to Halliburton, keep your head down and look for something else better. This place is heading towards Zero.

Relax, it’s like Game of Thrones. There is the House of Crawfish in the GOM and the all powerful ruling family of the House of Rodeo Clowns. Get smart and learn to play the game, that is the Halliburton House of Games.

You need to get over that because this kind of sh1t happens everywhere. Otherwise, you will not last in any job. Just take it easy. Do the minimum and get your paycheck. One day you will be that person without the skills and get the promotion. You just need to redefine what the necessary skills are. Hint: get a bunch of chap sticks ready and/or lube up.
