Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

Will this be the last round in the US?

Once again Chip said "affected by today's decision" Today's decision, meaning there could be another day in the future?? But then went on to say that "after today we are finished with the reorganization"

I just don't know what to believe and don't feel I can trust what he has to say. I feel like even if I make it through today, I'll still be on the chopping block later this year...

I guess we're all a little frayed, even though I still have a job, what I don't have is a shred of faith in the company or leadership anymore.

Here's what I think will happen based on what i know.

late this year, there will be another smaller trimming. this I'm certain of, it will come as soon as teams have stabilized, and managers / directors will be asked to cut the lowest performing.

Then at the beginning of next year, q1/q2 they'll cut entire departments and outsource the work.

The problem is this. The whole covid / remote work situation over the last two years taught them they don't need (or can get) people in offices, that's why they're closing them down now. The "return to office" debacle proved that to them and they're all too happy to not be paying for the space.

But what they also figured out is that if we don't need US workers in US offices, we don't have to pay US salaries either. So they'll have teams complete the transition and get the ball rolling. Then they'll sh-tcan a whole lot of people and send the work overseas.

I wasn't trying to be a "shill", I'm as frustrated and disenchanted as any. Our team has been told that leadership will be reorganizing, presenting the new team structure toe the board and likely conducting layoffs just at a way smaller scale.

Heard re: there's every reason for chip to not make the same mistake twice, that hadn't occurred to me.

I think mass layoffs are done but the layoffs to come will be a more "normal" cadence...

If the OP feels like I do, they're a mix of emotions and feeling pretty anxious. Sure, it might be foolish to think there will never be layoffs at 2U again, but on this scale it's probably unlikely.

A lot of the posts on this board are fear mongering, it's not beneficial for me to read into it so maybe I'm just trying to say something moderately reassuring because it sucks feeling this f---ing sh---y and stressed.

Trolls? I am seeing shills. You being one. There's every reason for chip not to repeat the mistake with this round and let people figure out that it isn't done.

There will be at least two more rounds, one before end of year and one at the end of q1 23.

I can confirm that this is indeed the last wave of layoffs / is the last part of the Platform reorganization announced ~a month ago.

There are some trolls on this board for sure. There is no beneficial reason for chip to say we are done if we aren't done. I think Mass layoffs are probably finished but would not be surprised if throughout the next year teams on a smaller scale are restructured. That's the name of the game I guess.
