If Montrose COE is trying to save money shouldn't they be looking at how much wages they have paid out this year for workers on suspiension to stay at home and not work at all?
Another simple one is workers coming in for OT without being asked and spending a whole shift doing nothing?
Another one is workers coming in for OT at the weekend for double time but when asked to come in during the week for 1 1/2 time they can't make it?
It's not difficult to see where some money could be saved.

People forget the sh--e lead hands and ops leads have to put up with. I welcome any of those blaming poor management to have a go for a day and see what they say then. If you arent happy leave and see how well off you are then!
Instead of striking for whatever it is they are striking for just now, should they not have got the union involved about the ridiculous 3.5% pay rises? Maybe they would have got more staff involved with that.
I blame the management or lack thereof,
no surprise baker in scotland performed so poorly and offices are closing. you shot yourself in the foot laddie
All machinists do is push a few buttons on a computer and put their feet up. Can't be that difficult!
Only a Saturday night? I heard
of some shifts taking 4 - 6 hours breaks on nights.
I've seen T&A guys sleeping on the floor in the breakout area behind the canteen on a Saturday night . Machinists have every minute of activity recorded by Vimana. Don't compare spanner lakies with machinists.
Part of the problem is that the people in charge of OT also get paid the same OT rates so they are happy to take the money for doing nothing as well
Happened for far too long, not just in T&A and machine shop. Other departments took the pi-s out of the double time at weekends when there's been very little work to do for about a year at least!
I agree. You could also add training courses at the weekend that last 4 hours and the trainer telling everyone to make suelre they book a whole shift on training
