Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

Changing jobs internally

I need some change. I'm interested in your experiences with applying for internal postings? Is it easy to get an internal job? I know one person who regretted it and left the company shortly after applying for an internal position, but that was a long time ago.

Contact the hiring manager before applying to get an idea if the job is a fit.

If you apply internally and are a good employee, your manager will block you. Managers are automatically notified if their employees apply to other jobs in Workday internally. If you dont want that, apply at bakerhughes.com external site. They could still end up communicating, but it doesn't automatically inform your current manager.

I’ve been trying to change jobs internally for a very long time. Either start doing your job terribly and they’ll move you out just to get rid of you, or get on a good ol boys club with your manager

It depends. If your manager is onboard then it’s easy, if not you are better off trying outside.

Test the market at other companies, you're going to be much better off
