Thread regarding ION Geophysical Corp. layoffs

What went wrong?

So what do you think went wrong?
I would say there was way too much mediocracy in the upper management. No consequences for making mistakes. Anybody want to name names?

The company collapsed on Brian's watch. Stock went down 50% immediately after it was announced he was replacing Peebler. Everyone knew he wasn't up to the task and was more focused on the size of his hotel suites and limos than what was happening in the natural resource exploration space and how to position ION within it. Things just continued going downhill on his watch, with the decision to focus so heavily on OceanGeo and the seabed a clear miscalculation.

The fact that he was essentially replaced overnight by Usher and never re-appeared again in any sort of C-suite or Board director position says a lot.

Not exactly embezzlement if he got millions of $ openly. The board of directors was derelict in their duties by allowing Brian to r&pe ION like that for years.

Brian Hanson, 100%. He embezzled millions of $ from ION into his own pocket, his yacht, mansion, and vacation house in the Caribbean.
It is such a shame that he could walk away without any consequence.

The company, over the past 10 years, never knew what it wanted to be.

Yes that's right. Upper management was a joke. The people who did all the work were always great and very dedicated.
