Got the word in earlier today that my position is no longer in the books for HP. Seems like they are trying to make their end of the fiscal year numbers a bit better for the shareholders.

As a follow up to the last poster remote jobs are at lots of companies. It has opened up a whole new world. I know it sucks. There will be lot more coming in afraid because HP can’t plan beyond the current quarter.
I’m in the middle of interviewing and no joke I’m talking to 7 or 8 companies with remote roles. Having HP on your resume does hold some weight.
Very sorry you got let go. This is happened to me a few years ago during covid, at a different company, and it was my first layoff ever. I know how you feel. It's weird and disappointing (and frankly, depressing too) to leave when it's not on your terms.
On the bright side, your severance is likely going to be substantial. Companies like ours will pay you handsomely for your exodus. Also, working for us gives you a lot of visibility as you look for your new job so I know you'll find something quickly.
The important thing to do now is network like crazy and have someone review your resume.
Good luck!
What role/part of the company were you in?
Sorry to hear that you are affected. Hope this is not a sign of things to come for other folks
